Over the weekend it was revealed that cryptocurrency exchange company Crypto.com accidentally sent over $400 million to another cryptocurrency exchange and was miraculously able to get it back. The accidental recipient, Gate.io, released a statement detailing how it caught on to the October 21 320,000 ETH ($416 million) accidental deposit:

Just days after a hacker pulled off an audacious crypto heist, another major public breach has occured. Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Liquid is the latest victim of a cyberattack that has seen hackers make off with an estimated $97 million in stolen assets.

How much did a cryptocurrency hacker lose?

Liquid did not put a dollar figure on the amount, but blockchain analytics company Elliptic said its analysis estimates the losses at about $97 million. Of that, $45 million were in Ethereum tokens, which are being converted into Ether, preventing the hacker from having those assets frozen.
